Over the last few days, G20 ministers have been meeting to discuss how the One Health Approach can be used to prevent future pandemics. With Covid-19 still posing a global threat, this is a very important topic.

VSF International is part of the Action for Animal Health coalition. The coalition has written to these G20 health ministers urging them to invest in animal health systems.

As stated on the Action for Animal Health website, 75% of all new human infections emerge from animals. As a network of NGOs focusing on animal health, VSF International understands the interconnectedness of human and animal health. Livestock are fundamentally important to supporting the health and livelihoods of millions of people around the world in its country programmes, while environmental health is also essential.

VSF International is happy to support this initiative. We hope to make an impact on what is such a fundamental meeting for the future of One Health and pandemic prevention.
